The Centre for Skills Development & Training (The Centre) provides career and workforce development programs, and offers its services at locations in Burlington, Georgetown, Milton, Mississauga and Oakville. They help people at all stages of life get on a path to career success—from youth just starting out, to older workers who have been laid off; from newcomers to Canada who need to improve their workplace English.
The Thomas Merton Centre, part of the Halton Catholic District School Board, offers Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes designed for adult newcomers to Canada who wish to improve their ability to understand, speak, read, write English. Classes are free and offered in Oakville, Burlington and Georgetown.
The Halton Multicultural Council is a community-based settlement agency that provides a variety of programs and services to immigrant and refugee communities.
The Halton Lighthouse Shelter is operated by the Salvation Army in Oakville.
